I have taken a long break from recording and trying to be productive, and spent the time learning and researching new musical ideas. During most of this time, I have been in classes for a B.A. in Music. It has been helpful in solidifying the fundamentals of theory and composition, which I sorely lacked. The newly acquired knowledge has been put to use and I am slowly putting together songs, trying to avoid popular structures, but sometimes the pull to the familiar is to great.

I also recently traveled to Turkey, and picked up a Duvan Saz, Turkish-style clarinet, and duduk. The sounds immediately inspired me to work on some ideas, and even try to push my melodic and harmonic knowledge. Izmir-jetset is just a rough sketch of some ideas I have been trying to push:
